Research

My research pursues both historical and contemporary accounts on various academic discourses and fields. Focusing on academic careers, disciplines, and evaluations, my work zooms in on issues of power and social inequality, knowledge claims and boundary work, and subjectivity and performativity.

Against this backdrop, my previous and current projects culminate in two more general areas of interest: a concern with evaluation and social inequality in academia, and my efforts towards a sociology of social sciences and humanities.

Currently I am mostly working on two projects:

Academic socialization at the postdoc stage

What is “risky” about risky research?

Some older projects I am still occupied with occasionally include:

Professorial appointment procedures

Academic obituaries

Centralized research performance assessment
