Non-surgical body contouring and skin tightening

New technology means some patients can receive both skin tightening and body sculpting using non-invasive, high frequency radio-frequency and ultrasound energy. The treatment is used for skin wrinkles, reshaping of targeted fat deposits and complements before and after invasive surgery such as a face lift or liposuction.

The device used is not a laser. There is no skin peeling, pigment change or prolonged healing associated with its use. The radio frequency energy and ultrasound heats the surface under the skin and fat causing collagen remodelling and the fat to gently dissolve.

If you are having a body treatment, drink lots of water the day before your appointment. This helps the ultrasound part of the treatment to work effectively.

Men undergoing facial and body treatments must shave the area the morning of each session.

What happens during non-surgical body contouring and skin tightening?

The treatment takes about 20-30 minutes and is done as an outpatient procedure meaning there is no hospital stay.  

During the session, a computer-controlled device is guided over the treatment area. There is no pain during the procedure but you will feel a warming sensation as the energy is delivered to the deeper layers of skin.

Going home after non-surgical body contouring and skin tightening

You will be able to resume normal activity immediately following your treatment. You may experience a brief period of redness or swelling in the treatment area.

You should continue drinking lots of water the day after your treatment to ensure the ultrasound part of the treatment is successful.

Depending on the area treated you will need an average of 4-6 repeat sessions at 7-14 day intervals. You will not see an instant effect. Skin tightening can take 3 months to become evident as this is the time it takes for collagen and elastin in your skin to remodel. Fat deposits may start to change after the second treatment and continue to change for 2-3 months.

Please note: This treatment is not available to you if you have a pacemaker, certain types of joint or dental metal implants, if you are pregnant or breast feeding or if your skin is broken at the site of therapy. Treatment is subject to consultation where clinical suitability will be assessed.
